LCPS Experiences

At LCPS, we recognise the positive impact of learning outside the classroom.

Some of the highlights in the past year include:

Houses of Parliament : Our elected school council and leaders in Y5/6 experienced a trip to the Houses of Parliament where they watched debates in the House of Commons and House of Lords. They had the chance to meet our local MP, Matt Hancock. During the trip to London, they also went to the National Gallery and walked through St James' Park to see Buckingham Palace.

Fossil / Palaeontology Experience:
Children in KS1 took on the role of palaeontologists as they enjoyed a fossil experience which linked to their topic all about Mary Anning.

Ely Cathedral: Year 5/6 went to Ely Cathedral, the setting for their class text, Floodland. They immersed themselves in activities including orienteering and artwork all inspired by the book they'd been studying in English

Young Voices: In January 2023, children in Y5/6 had the chance to sing at the O2 arena as they took part in Young Voices. It was a fantastic experience, particularly having the chance to be backing singers to Heather Small!

Village community trips:
Early Years walked down to the village park as part of their topic on birthday parties.
All classes have experienced trips to the village library
Early Years visited St Mary's Church to learn all about the nativity.
KS2 all visited St Mary's Church for their Christmas assembly and carol concert.

King Arthur Performance:
All children had the chance to see a performance of King Arthur from the Hobgoblin Theatre.

Happy Chick Company:
Last Easter, we hatched chicks in school. The children tracked the progress and got to watch and care for them over a few weeks until they were ethically rehomed with one of our staff. We hope to have the chickens back to visit us to see us soon!

Little City
Children in Early Years loved the visit from Little City. The children got to learn through role play as they took on various jobs around the 'city'.

Coming up later this year:
